Biographical Information:
Dr. Rocky Kirk became Superintendent of Schools for Lake Travis ISD on July 1, 2002. Before coming to LTISD, Dr. Kirk was an English teacher, a high school assistant principal, a high school principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum & instruction in Spring ISD, a suburban Dr. Kirk was born in During Dr. Kirk’s tenure in LTISD, the community has recognized his passion for excellence and his collaboration with the community by naming him the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce 2002 Citizen of the Year. He has also been named the Lake Travis View (community newspaper) Public Official of the Year. In 2005, Dr. Kirk was chosen by a panel of Professional Information: In his 27th year as an educator and eighth year as Superintendent of LTISD, Dr. Kirk reports to the Board of Trustees and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the District. He is responsible for working collaboratively and effectively with the Board to ensure that the vision and goals of the District are achieved. Dr. Kirk provides leadership and guidance to approximately 1,000 employees in LTISD, a fast-growth, high performing school district. Since Dr. Kirk’s arrival in LTISD, the District has passed two bond elections totaling $163 million. Much of Dr. Kirk’s time and attention is focused on creating conditions that support the District’s success as it grows into a much larger suburban school district. This includes creating school conditions and systems that support students’ educational achievement in the classroom and in extracurricular pursuits, protecting and enhancing the financial integrity of the District, promoting the interests of the District in the legislative arena and working closely with his senior staff as they bring their own talents and skills to their roles in the District. In 2007, the Superintendent launched the first class of Leadership Lake Travis, a district-initiated program designed to annually bring approximately 25 Lake Travis community members into a year-long district/community collaboration project built around the values of relationships, understanding, partnership and trust. Dr. Kirk is a Director for the Texas Association of Suburban Mid-Urban Schools. He enjoys helping prepare future educational leaders by teaching graduate coursework at the university level and is active as a consultant to school board-superintendent teams across the state. |
