Bond Logo In January 2011, Lake Travis schools recorded a total enrollment of 6,974 students. A demographic report commissioned by the District and released in February 2011 indicates enrollment has been increasing by approximately 300 to 400 students annually—roughly 6 to 7 percent. In August 2011, LTISD's enrollment surpassed 7,300 students, confirming demographic projections.  At this rate of growth, the District’s current instructional facilities will reach overall capacity as follows:
              • Hudson Bend and Lake Travis middle schools: 2012-2013 school year
              • Lake Travis High School: 2013-2014 school year
              • Bee Cave, Lake Pointe, Lake Travis, Lakeway and Serene Hills elementary schools: 2015-2016 school year

On May 5, 2011, a 27-member citizens’ advisory committee comprised of men and women representing each elementary and secondary school attendance zone recommended to the LTISD Board of Trustees that a $158.5 million bond package be brought before District voters.  Two weeks later, in a unanimous 7-0 vote, the Board approved an order calling a bond election to be held November 8, 2011.

The bond components, as proposed by the citizens' advisory committee, will:
< accommodate projected increase in student enrollment by adding and expanding instructional facilities;
<
maintain and repair District facilities; and
<
provide instructional resources, including technology.

The estimated tax increase related to the bond will be $0.0924 for a total tax rate of $1.4083 per $100 of assessed property valuation.  The 2011-2012 anticipated average market value of a residence in Lake Travis ISD is approximately $400,000.  After the District's 20 percent Optional Homestead Exemption and the State of Texas $15,000 Mandated Exemption, the bond will represent an increase of approximately $281.88 annually for the average homeowner.  Residents who have received an ‘Over-65 Exemption’ or ‘freeze’ from the Travis County Appraisal District will incur no tax impact as a result of the approved bond election.  To obtain an Application for Residence Homestead Exemption from the Travis County Appraisal District click here.
