  • Shots before school, It's the Rule!

    As of the 2015-2016 school year, Texas adopted the "No Shots, No School" policy. 

    All students are required by state law to be current with their immunizations prior to the first day of school. These records need to be received in the school nurse’s office by noon Wednesday, August 8, 2018. If your family prefers to use an affidavit of Conscientious Exemption, those must be up to date and on file on the first day of school as well. Any student whose immunization records are incomplete or who does not have an exemption on file with the school nurse will not be allowed to attend classes on the first day of school. You will be called to pick them up until which time you can provide proof of immunizations.  

    Please note this is Texas law, not LTISD policy.

    The Department of State Health Services provides the Texas immunization requirements for K-12.

    Students who require an exemption from immunizations for medical reasons must provide a written statement, signed and dated, from a physician in good standing in the U.S. The statement must state that, in the physician's opinion, the vaccine required is medically contraindicated or poses a significant risk to the health and well-being of the child or student or any member of the student's household. Unless it is written in the statement that a lifelong condition exists, the exemption statement is valid for only one year from the date signed by the physician.
