Student Teachers and Student Observers
In partnership with universities, colleges, alternative certification programs and other teacher preparation programs, the Lake Travis ISD Human Resource Services Department provides placement for student teachers, student observers, and interns in schools across the District.
Process for student teacher and student observer placement with Lake Travis ISD:
- Complete the online Student Teacher and Student Observer Request Form.
- Once the form is submitted, the student candidate will be emailed our Criminal History Information Request form and Guidelines form. Each form must be filled out and returned to our Human Resource Services Department with an official letter from the program supervisor defining the program details, dates, and required rotations.
- Human Resource Services will work directly with the campus principals and/or appropriate supervisors in placement of student teachers and observers.
- An authorization form with campus assignment(s) will be emailed to the candidate once approval has been granted. Candidates are then able to contact the assigned campus and cooperating teacher(s). A picture ID and the HR approved authorization form must be provided to the campus upon initial reporting for student teaching or observation.
Campus principals reserve the right to limit the number of student candidates permitted on their campus at any given time. Placement requests directly from candidates to campuses via email or phone calls will not be permitted. Please be advised that specific teacher requests may not be honored.
All candidates with at least 60 college credit hours completed are also encouraged to consider applying for substitute teacher positions. Information regarding substituting can be accessed here.
