Paul Norton - Superintendent of Schools

  • Paul Norton

Paul Norton serves as Superintendent of Schools for the Lake Travis Independent School District. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science degree in Education from Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

Mr. Norton began his tenure at Lake Travis ISD on August 1, 2020 during a time of unprecedented challenge and change prompted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Since then, he has led initiatives prioritizing staff, student and community wellness, academic support for all learners, and long-range facilities planning. In 2021, Mr. Norton began a comprehensive strategic planning process, launched a districtwide curriculum audit, and established the Lake Travis ISD Police Department. Also in the fall of 2021, voters approved a proposition ratifying the district’s total tax rate—also known as a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election, allowing Lake Travis ISD to retain a larger portion of its local operating budget which would otherwise be sent to the state under current school finance laws. Most recently, in November 2022, voters approved two propositions totaling $609.2 million for school facilities—including two new elementary schools and a second high school; necessary sites for school facilities; new school buses; and technology improvements.

Professionally, Mr. Norton is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators and a graduate of its Future Ready Superintendent Academy. He currently serves on the TASA Professional Learning Committee and is a member of the Future Ready Superintendent Leadership Network. He previously served on the Texas Policy Committee on Public Education Information, the Texas Curriculum Management Program Cooperative Board, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Superintendent Advisory Panel.

Mr. Norton and his wife Jenna have three children: Emily, who is a senior at Arkansas Tech University; Julia, a senior at Lake Travis High School; and Caleb, an eighth grade student at Hudson Bend Middle School. Together, they enjoy being active, attending sporting events, hiking, as well as traveling and experiencing new places.
