Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Matthew Holley and I am thrilled to begin my first year with Lake Travis ISD as an Assistant Principal at Hudson Bend Middle School!
I come to HBMS from Dailey Middle School in Del Valle ISD where I served as an Assistant Principal for 3 years. Prior to becoming an administrator, I was a classroom teacher at the high-school level for 10 calendar years, teaching both Spanish and English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR).
Before working in public education, I received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies/Economics from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, where I was a shooting guard for the men’s basketball team. I also spent the fall semester of 2003 studying abroad at the University of Salamanca, the oldest university in Spain. My graduate studies include earning a Master of Arts in International Studies from Texas State University in 2009, which culminated in a 3-month internship in Cordoba, Argentina where I completed my master’s thesis and worked as a research assistant for an NGO in Cordoba, Argentina. In 2018, I completed all coursework at Lamar University in Educational Leadership in order to receive my EC-12 Principal Certification.
I am a native of Waco, Texas, but I have also lived in Spain, Chile, and Argentina. In my spare time, I love to spend as much time as possible with my wonderful family. I am also an avid reader, exercise fanatic, and a huge fan of combat sports, especially MMA.
