Useful Information and Traditions
Morning Routines at Lake Pointe Elementary:
Each morning, we say pledges to our U.S. Flag and to the Texas Flag, sing the national anthem (assembly only), followed by a moment of silence. During morning assembly, we ask you to follow along with the students in the practices and procedures. We currently hold morning assembly Friday mornings at 7:40 a.m. in the gym, parents please come join us during this time! This is a great time for our community to gather together and start our day. Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we gather in the classrooms and participate in the morning routine and announcements via our broadcast system. Parents, you may also view the broadcast on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the library. Monday and Wednesday mornings, morning routines and announcements are held via Mrs. Freed over the PA. After the announcements, these mornings are sacred for morning class meetings that focus on social/emotional lessons delivered by our classroom teachers using our district-adopted Second Step curriculum. Morning meetings also focus on our Lake Pointe Life Skills that we believe embody core characteristics to develop and recognize empathy, grit, resilience, responsibility, a sense of humor, and so much more in our young learners
Celebrating Birthdays at Lake Pointe Elementary:
Senate Bill 42 directs local school districts to provide classroom time for parents who wish to recognize their child's birthday at school. Each district is asked to determine its own procedure for how and when to allow for the birthday recognition so that valuable instruction time is minimally impacted. We have designated that birthdays will be celebrated on Friday mornings during assembly. In addition, each student will receive a birthday treat card to be redeemed in the cafeteria on the day of his/her birthday, or on the first instructional day following your child's birthday.
Eagle Awards are given to students who demonstrate quality Lake Pointe Life Skill character traits during the month. Staff nominate one student from each class that exemplifies the Life Skill recognized. We introduce a new Life Skill every two weeks, so two students will be selected to receive this award each month. The students will be honored on the last Friday of each month during assembly. Parents are notified by the classroom teacher if their child is being honored at assembly.
Each Tuesday, our teachers send home a Tuesday folder. This is one of our ways we can communicate with all parents about useful information or events that are coming up. Most information will be sent electronically through our website. You can access campus or district-wide information and flyers through our electronic platform, PeachJar. Following registration, each parent is automatically opted in to receive these electronic alerts through an email alert. Just click on our website and you will see the PeachJar link. Thanks and think green!
