Rita Browne

Hello, my name is Rita Browne. I moved to Austin, Texas 17 years ago from Southern California with my husband Leonard whom I have been married to for 26 years. We have a son Caleb who has entered his senior year at Texas A & M studying Software Engineering and my daughter Ariana Browne, a senior this year at Vandegrift High School who is active on the Band and Vision Dance Team. I began my career working in Austin ISD as a Kindergarten teacher for 5 years in Title I schools, which inspired me to pursue a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in school leadership. Supporting students in diverse cultures motivated me to earn a certification in School Counseling from the Educators Preparedness Program at Region XIII here in Austin. Currently, I am working towards completing a Master in Science in Professional School Counseling in Spring 2023 from Angelo State University ( a division of the Texas Tech University system).

Recently, I taught in primary grade levels Kindergarten through 2nd grade at Lakeway Elementary for 4 years and Bee Caves Elementary for 3 years. I began my career in education as a paraprofessional in Special Education in grades 3rd to 5th at Steiner Ranch Elementary. Prior to my education career, I was a Commercial Property Manager.

Community in Schools here in Lake Travis has allowed me to immerse myself in the community as a Science Counselor at Summer Squires camp, Extended Care. I led two teams of 3rd to 5th-grade students in Destination Imagination that competed at Regionals. One of the most rewarding roles I have had here at LT was in the Mentor me a program where I enjoyed listening and making a difference in a child's life. Guiding and supporting students to imagine, create and explore learning to their fullest potential is my passion. Social, emotional, and academic success are important to me while keeping a growth mindset. In the role of counselor here at Lake Pointe Elementary, I plan to help create a positive and exciting school climate.
