2023 Long Range Facilities Planning Committee

    • Our Long Range Facilities Planning Committee held its third and final meeting on April 26 to address Proposition C (athletic facilities and renovations) which did not receive voter approval in November 2022.

    • The committee reviewed items contained in the proposition and discussed next steps for a potential bond election in November 2023.

    • Resources provided to the committee are available on our District website.

    • The committee made its recommendation to the school board during the May 17 regular meeting. Trustees have until August 21 to formally call an election. If such an order is approved, the bond election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

New Elementary School Attendance Zones Approved for 2023-2024

    • After a lengthy discussion during its regular meeting on April 19, our school board voted unanimously to approve Option 4 of the Proposed Rezoning Changes for new elementary school attendance zone boundaries, effective for the 2023-2024 school year. The board did not approve the proposed rezoning Option A for Bee Cave Elementary School.

    • Option 4 will provide relief to Rough Hollow Elementary School by rezoning neighborhoods on the south side of Highlands Boulevard to Serene Hills Elementary School. Additionally, the Madrone Ridge and Hillcrest neighborhoods in Sweetwater will be rezoned to West Cypress Hills Elementary School. No other elementary schools, or any of the District’s three middle schools, will be impacted by the Option 4 rezoning. Revised resources, including a New LTISD Street Directory with 2023-2024 School Attendance Zones, are available on our website.

    • A video recording of the Fentanyl Awareness Community Presentation held May 2 at Lake Travis High School is now available on our District’s YouTube channel.

    • While we are fortunate to not have had any fentanyl-related incidents in our schools this year, we know this is a very timely and highly-sensitive subject matter for families in Central Texas.

    • This meeting was the start of what we hope will be a continued conversation and partnership in our community. We will be scheduling similar opportunities and presentations during the coming school year.

    • During Wednesday’s school board meeting, trustees approved a resolution authorizing the donation of this property to the City of Bee Cave.

    • The City of Bee Cave plans to annex this property, thereby accepting and assuming full maintenance and operational control of the roadway.

    • We will notify our parents and community once all agreements have been finalized and when the roadway will officially be open.

    • In the meantime, we thank you for your patience and urge all motorists to drive with caution in and around the area.
