Transportation Services 2019-2020
Enrollment for Transportation Services
Students who plan to ride the bus to and from school must enroll for transportation services. Transportation enrollment forms are included in the 2019-2020 New Student Enrollment Packet and 2019-2020 Returning Student Packet. To access those forms, please visit the Enrollment section of the District website.
Requests for special transportation arrangements can be made by contacting the LTISD Transportation Department at (512) 533-6070.
Lake Travis ISD uses Transfinder—an independent web-based boundary and routing system—to assist parents, real estate agents, and District personnel in identifying school and bus schedule information online.
Bus routes for the 2019-2020 school year will be available on Transfinder beginning August 1, 2019.
LTISD uses the Secured Mobility Authorized Ridership Technology (SMART) tag system for all students who ride the bus to and from school. Each of our buses is outfitted with a Samsung tablet equipped with a Radio Frequency Identification reader, mobile connectivity, and Global Positioning System. Similar to systems used in public transportation, students place their campus-supplied SMART tag ID badges on the tablet’s sensor when loading and unloading their bus. Only the student’s name and associated bar code will be printed on the ID badge. No information is stored on the badge.
Additionally, the SMART tag system also offers parents a bus tracking feature through a secure Parent Portal. Parents can register to receive ‘SMART Alert’ text messages notifying them their child is 10-15 minutes from his/her bus stop. The 'SMART Alert' will also notify parents in the event of a bus delay or interruption in service due to a mechanical issue, traffic, inclement weather or crash. The portal may be accessed from any device with a web browser. Parents can also add or remove guardians authorized to pick up their child at school through the Parent Portal.
SMART Tag badges are distributed annually during the Lake Travis High School, Lake Travis Middle School and Hudson Bend Middle School Round-up events in August. Badges for elementary students will be distributed at each campus on the first day of school.

Click, tug and snug. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, those are the three easy steps all Lake Travis ISD students who board the bus will be expected to perform.
With voter approval of the district’s bond election last November, district officials purchased 51 new school buses equipped with seat belts. Additionally, staff from the district’s transportation department is currently retrofitting its existing bus fleet with seat belts. In all, more than 100 LTISD school buses will be equipped with two-point lap seat belts and three-point lap and shoulder seat belts, ensuring all students who ride the bus will be properly secured.
Senate Bill 693 requires all Texas school districts to install seat belts on any school buses purchased after September 2017. As a result, the district allocated more than $10 million to its 2017 bond package to purchase new school buses as well as retrofit its existing fleet with seat belts.
