Awards

Since 2008, the Lake Travis ISD Office of Communications, Media and Community Relations has garnered numerous awards for excellence in school communications from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA).

Based in Austin, TSPRA is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to improving public education in Texas by promoting effective public relations practices, providing professional development for its members, and improving communication between Texans and their public schools.  With more than 900 members statewide, TSPRA is an award-winning chapter of the National School Public Relations Association comprised of public information and communications professionals as well as education foundation staff and boards. Membership also includes superintendents, school administrators, principals, executive directors, web/technology/electronic media and graphic professionals, school consultants, vendors and others who support public education in Texas. 

Each year, TSPRA honors individuals, school districts, education foundations and others for outstanding contributions in school communications during the association’s annual conference.  Projects and programs are submitted voluntarily by members of the association for work created between July 1 and June 30. Winning entries are honored with a Bronze Star, for an entry that achieves its purpose with creativity, craft and skill; Silver Star certificate, for an entry that achieves its purpose with noticeable creativity, craft and skill; Gold Star certificate, for an entry that not only achieves its purpose with noticeable creativity, craft and skill, but, in the opinion of the judges, does so in an exceptional way; Best of Category gold medallion, for an entry that stands out from all the others for its exceptional creativity and quality; Crystal Award, for a multifaceted promotional program or campaign employing a variety of media, occurring over a period of time and encompassing well-defined goals, strategies or activities; and Platinum Award, TSPRA's highest award for excellence in a total PR program.
