Mr. K.J. Bartosh

K.J. Bartosh is the Managing Director of the Lake Travis I.S.D. Performing Arts Center and leads the Technical Theatre program for Lake Travis High School, teaching the top-level Technical Theatre courses. 

Mr. Bartosh directs and supervises every aspect of programming and operations of the Performing Arts Center's three theaters and vast support spaces, which see around 150 audience events each year.  In this role, he acts as the Production Manager for all major productions, advises student designers, supervises technical staff & students, is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all theaters, and is in charge of the booking, planning, logistics, and execution of all of the events held in the PAC.  Mr. Bartosh is responsible for keeping the systems in the Performing Arts Center at the forefront of entertainment technologies which student technicians learn and employ in their execution of the many professional-level productions in the PAC.  He has served as the primary staff consultant for five major capital improvement projects at the Performing Arts Center.  Over his eighteen years at Lake Travis, he has served on Campus Leadership Teams, Campus Operational Leadership Teams, a variety of other ad-hoc committees, and served for five years as Department Chair of the Fine Arts Department.

A native of Austin, Mr. Bartosh graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, which included his teaching certificate and advanced coursework in automated lighting design.  He earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, including his Principal's certificate, from Concordia University Texas.  Prior to coming to Lake Travis, Mr. Bartosh worked at Eanes ISD as Assistant Director of Fine Arts Facilities.  Mr. Bartosh has worked on over 100 full-length productions in his career, where he has worked in virtually every area of production including: lighting designer, sound designer, sound engineer--having mixed for Tony and Grammy nominated artists, moving lights programmer, and continues to light shows professionally.  He is an active member of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT), where he serves as a Chapter Sponsor and was involved in the development of the BACKstage certification examination for high school students.  He is also active with the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA), and has been a voting member of the Technical Standards Program.  The TSP designs and reviews procedural and mechanical standards for the entertainment industry.

Since coming to Lake Travis, Mr. Bartosh has been responsible for quadrupling the size of the Technical Theatre Department.  In 2014, Mr. Bartosh assisted his students in affiliating their organization as a Student Chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, joining the ranks of predominantly college chapters with this internationally-recognized organization for entertainment professionals.  LTPAC crews, technicians and designers have been recognized numerous times for excellence by the University Interscholastic League, the International Thespian Society, and by the ESTA Foundation.
