Local Wellness Policy
Federal law states that all schools participating in the National School Lunch and/or Breakfast Program must establish a local wellness policy that promotes students' health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. LTISD's local wellness policy addresses nutrition education, competitive food rules, physical education requirements, and more for all grade levels. The district has designated the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) to create and implement nutrition guidelines and wellness goals, and to annually review and evaluate the local wellness policy.
