Substitutes
Substituting in LTISD
Substitutes provide an invaluable service to our students, and LTISD is committed to assuring that we not only have the highest caliber substitute teachers, but also that our substitutes have appropriate resources to maximize their success in the classroom.
Qualifications
The Board of Trustees, at its August 27, 2009, board meeting, approved the following requirements for all new substitutes:
- At least 60 college credit hours, as documented by official transcripts
- Successful completion of district substitute orientation, Substitute University
Substitute Applications
All applicants must complete an online application in order to be considered for a position. If you have not done so, please select "Employment Opportunities" from the left menu and then select "Begin Application".
Substitute teaching applications are screened and select applicants are contacted by the Office of Human Resource Services and invited to attend a Sub University session. Following completion of orientation, successful participants will be processed through Human Resource Services and are scheduled for a fingerprinting appointment. Substitute teachers will be reimbursed for the cost of their fingerprinting fees after working ten days as an LTISD substitute teacher.
Completion of Substitute University and the fingerprinting process are not guarantees of employment with Lake Travis ISD. As part of the employment process, applicants' references are verified by Human Resources, and candidates may also be asked to have a personal interview with a member of the Human Resource Services staff. Those who meet all hiring standards will be scheduled to complete appropriate paperwork and to register for their hiring orientation session. We appreciate your patience with this process, and look forward to meeting you in the near future.
Substitute University
Substitute University is offered several times per year on a by invitation only basis. Not all applicants will be invited to attend. All LTISD substitutes must attend Substitute University, an unpaid full-day substitute training and orientation session, prior to being considered for employment.
