This session provides you with an overview of how to access and interpret the key components of special education and dyslexia progress reports and how to analyze the information presented to understand progress towards IEP goals.

Navigating Life After Age 18

What parents need to consider when your special needs child turns 18.  Guardianship vs Supported Decision Making Agreement; SSI before and after age 18; SSI-Medicaid; SSDI, RSDI-Medicare; Making sure your disabled adult child will receive part of their parents' Social Security retirement benefit.  You will learn about these topics and more.

Transition Services with TWC

This presentation is designed to help your child with disabilities successfully transition from high school to adulthood. The purpose of these services is to prepare your child for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. Transition Services are customized to meet each student's individual needs and can include career exploration, job training, college preparation, independent living skills, and more. These services are provided by vocational counselors who are specially trained to guide students through this important process.

How to talk with your child about their disability

A session aimed at equipping parents and caregivers with the tools to foster open and supportive dialogue with their children about disabilities. This talk will explore the importance of honest communication, addressing feelings, and empowering children to understand their unique abilities at any developmental level.

Dyslexia Demo Class

This session includes an interactive demonstration of the components of a typical evidence-based dyslexia intervention lesson.

Understanding the Four Functions of Behavior and Using Effective Replacement Behaviors

This training provides parents with a deep understanding of the four primary functions of student behavior - Attention, Escape/Avoidance, Access to Tangibles, and Sensory Seeking. We will explore how to identify the underlying function of challenging behaviors, and then learn strategies for teaching replacement behaviors that serve the same function in a more appropriate way.
