Get Ready, Get Set, Go (G3)
G3 is a special education service designed for students who have significant communication, social and behavioral needs. This classroom provides a highly structured environment with a low staff-to-student ratio where a variety of evidence based practices are used to meet the needs of students. Academics, social skills, and developmentally appropriate functional skills (emphasis on communication and positive behavior) are addressed through intensive, explicit instruction.
Although students attend general education and resource classes, they may need additional support at times in the G3 classroom. Being in this program provides access to a motor lab for sensory breaks, small group social skills instruction, modeling and prompting of appropriate skills, and peers to practice age-appropriate social skills with.
G3 aims to provide the following outcomes:
- Increasing effective communication
- Decreasing and replacing challenging behaviors
- Promoting appropriate social skills
- Establishing Learning to Learn behaviors (self-management, small group/large group instruction skills, self-regulation)
- Developing and extending academic skills
- Maintaining and generalizing learned skills to the natural environment
- Reducing prompt dependency and fostering self-initiated behaviors
