High School Go!

High School Go! is a specialized service model designed to extend the structured support students received at the elementary and middle school levels. This program is tailored for high school students who require ongoing comprehensive support in the areas of communication, social-pragmatic skills, and transition planning.

Case Management and Related Services

Each student in the High School GO! Service model is assigned a Trained Case Manager who serves as the central point of contact and coordination for the student's entire educational plan. A case manager is responsible for:

  • Coordinating all specialized instruction and support services.
  • Facilitating communication between the student, family, teachers, and outside agencies
  • Ensuring the implementation of the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Connecting students with Related Services Coordination (e.g., speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, counseling).

Designated Student Support Space

A dedicated, safe, and regulated space is available on campus to meet student needs, including:

  • Social Pragmatic Communication Skills: A structured setting for explicit instruction, practice, and generalization of social skills.
  • Sensory Needs: A quiet area equipped with resources to help students self-regulate and address sensory input challenges.
  • De-escalation Needs: A private, low-stimulation environment for students to use when theyrequire support to manage strong emotional responses or anxiety.

Intensive Transition Monitoring

The High School Go! model places a significant emphasis on preparing students for the transition out of high school and into adult life. This includes:

  • Daily Transitions: Providing highly structured routines and individualized visual supports to help students navigate the daily schedule, classroom changes, and unpredictable events.
  • Life Transitions: Implementing more intensive monitoring and explicit instruction for post-secondary planning, focusing on employment, post-secondary education, and independent living skills.

Access to Innovative Courses: Making Connections

Students in the High School Go! service model have access to the Making Connections Innovative Courses and others as part of their individualized programming.
