Norton's Notes

    December 9, 2022

    • Student Holiday Events
      • Lake Travis ISD invites you to join us as we celebrate the holidays with a variety of student performances over the next several days. View the full schedule of events at

      • These events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Visit our campus websites for specific details and potential updates.

    • Phone/Internet Service Interruption
      • On Friday, December 9, several of our administrative offices and schools experienced interruptions in phone and internet services due to a circuit failure. This also affected Skyward, Schoology, and other online services. The circuit was repaired around noon, and all services have been fully restored.

    • Celebrations
      • On Thursday, December 8, a student at Lake Travis Elementary School was choking on a piece of food while eating lunch in the cafeteria. Without hesitation, school café manager Jessica Rodriguez and monitor Gary Waller performed the Heimlich maneuver on the student. After several abdominal thrusts, the piece of food was dislodged. The student's parents are thankful for our staff’s quick response. We are happy to report the student is doing fine.

      • With their production of "Rough Magic" (written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa), Lake Travis High School Theatre Arts students received several awards at the Texas Thespians State Festival held November 17-19 in Grapevine. These students will be recognized at the December 14 school board meeting.

    • Staffing
      • During the past week, our Human Resources department hired three bus drivers and two Food and Nutritions Services department staff members.

      • We had 17 new subs join our district this month, bringing our sub pool to 409. We appreciate so many of you supporting our staff and students in this role.

      • Our administration and HR staff remain hard at work, filling vacancies as expeditiously as possible.

    • Winter Break
      • As we approach Winter Break, Friday, December 16 will be an Early Release Day for all students (12:40 pm dismissal for elementary students and 1:50 pm dismissal for middle and high school students).

      • Please refer to your school’s website or principal/campus newsletter for specific events, testing schedules and other activities during the final week of the fall semester.
