Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. JoAnn Bryan
Hi! My name is JoAnn Bryan and I am the counselor at West Cypress Hills Elementary. I have a Bachelor’s degree in education from Texas A&M University (whoop!) and my Master’s degree in counseling. I have over 20+ years of experience in education. I was a 2nd/3rd grade teacher for four years and then I was a Reading Recovery teacher for another four years in Carrollton Farmer’s Branch ISD. I quickly made the connection that my best days were when my kids had social and/or emotional hurts and issues. I would never send my students to see the counselor because I had a passion for helping my students with their problems. I quickly realized I was called to be a counselor so I went back to school and earned my Master’s degree in counseling from Amberton University. I started my counseling career in CFB-ISD in 2002. I got married and moved to Austin in the summer of 2004. I worked for Austin ISD for about 10 years mostly as a counselor with a one year stint as a district Positive Behavior Support Specialist. I am passionate about PBIS but I missed the kids and went right back to being a counselor. My husband and I have always wanted to live in the Spicewood Hill Country and when I saw West Cypress Hills opening up I was excited to apply. I was blessed to open our school not only as the counselor but as a PBIS lead. This is now my 3rd year in Lake Travis ISD and my 15th year as a counselor. I can truly say I have found my forever home at WCH. I LOVE our community and I am dedicated to support the social and emotional needs of our students so that they can reach their highest potential.
