JoAnn Bryan

8th Grade Counselor

I was born in South TX and raised in Albuquerque, NM. I come from a large family of Texas Aggies starting with my father, class of '56.  I graduated from Texas A&M (Class of '92 Whoop! ). I started my teaching career in the Dallas area and worked for Carrollton-Farmer's Branch ISD for 10 years. as a teacher, reading specialist, and then counselor.  I met my husband and moved to Austin in 2004.  I worked for Austin-ISD as a counselor for 10 years. We moved out to Lake Travis when West Cypress Hills Elementary opened and I was their counselor for 5 years.  I felt called to Middle School and it has been the BEST experience of my career. This is my 26th year in education and my heart is set on positively impacting our HBMS students. This stage of social/emotional development for students can be very challenging but it can also be a positive, life-changing experience for them. Lake Travis is home for me and I love living and working in our community
