Career and Technical Education

The mission of the Lake Travis Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department is to develop emerging leaders with diverse and real-world experiences to be successful in their chosen educational pathways and a 21st century global workforce.

Students are encouraged to enroll in Career and Technical Education courses along with the more traditional core academic courses. Ideally, students create balanced 4-year plans that include the best of both academic and Career and Technical Education classes.

CTE courses are designed to introduce students to technical careers as well as provide skills for employment. It should be understood that these courses might be very academically demanding with two or more years of higher mathematics and science required.

Enrollment in Career and Technical Education courses is open to all qualified students without regard to race, color, creed, religious affiliation, sex, or handicapping conditions. Safety is an important part of elective course work and must be demonstrated before students are allowed to participate in any laboratory experience.

The Lake Travis Independent School District offers CTE Programs in:

    • Advanced Sciences & Medicine
    • Veterinary & Agricultural Science
    • Math, Engineering, Architecture & Computer Science
    • Business, Finance & Marketing
    • Humanities, Technology & Communications

The State of Texas Foundation Graduation Plan encourages students to pursue an area to study in depth.
