Lake Travis ISD welcomes Chad Crowson as new General Counsel

I am excited to announce the selection of Chad Crowson as our new General Counsel, effective January 21. Mr. Crowson brings a unique blend of legal expertise and educational leadership experience that will greatly benefit our students, staff, and community.

A licensed attorney with the State Bar of Texas since 2011, Mr. Crowson holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. In addition to his legal qualifications, he earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Crowson also holds certifications as a principal and social studies teacher, demonstrating his deep understanding of both educational policy and classroom instruction.

Most recently, Mr. Crowson served as General Counsel for Midland ISD where he provided legal advice to district leaders, drafted and negotiated contracts, monitored legislative updates, and guided policy development. His hands-on approach to risk management and compliance ensured that district operations remained aligned with state regulations, protecting the district’s valuable interests, and enhancing operational efficiency.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. Crowson brings years of educational leadership experience. He has held roles such as Executive Director of Choice Programs, Access, and Support at Ector County ISD where he spearheaded initiatives to improve access to high-quality, best-fit schools for students. Mr. Crowson’s leadership roles have also included Director of Planning and School Choice, Leadership Coordinator, and high school principal, during which he prioritized closing achievement gaps and fostering inclusive learning environments.

With a strong background in both legal counsel and school administration, Mr. Crowson is uniquely positioned to support Lake Travis ISD’s mission of empowering students to become lifelong learners. His comprehensive understanding of school district operations will ensure that we continue to provide innovative and effective educational opportunities for every student.
