LWE, LTHS principals announcement retirement

Earlier today, we met with the staff at both Lakeway Elementary School and Lake Travis High School to share that their principals, Linda Rawlings and Debbie Garinger, respectively, have announced their intent to retire, effective June 2025. Both Ms. Rawlings and Ms. Garinger joined LTISD as retirees.

Ms. Rawlings has dedicated 47 years to a career in public education. Upon her retirement from Eanes ISD in 2012, Ms. Rawlings joined LTISD in December 2023 as the interim principal at LWE. In April 2024, she was named the school’s permanent principal, and during her tenure, Ms. Rawlings has provided calm and seasoned leadership, supporting a climate of care and excellence for our Mustang staff, students, and families.

Ms. Garinger is an accomplished educator with nearly 45 years of experience in public education. After retiring in 2011 from McKinney ISD and again in 2017 from Alamo Heights, Ms. Garinger came to Lake Travis in 2020 where she served as an assistant principal at Hudson Bend Middle School. In July 2021, Ms. Garinger was appointed as interim principal at Lake Travis High School, and in March 2022, she was named the school’s permanent instructional leader. During her time at LTHS, Ms. Garinger has prioritized high academic standards, further strengthening the proud tradition that defines our beloved Cavalier Nation.

Both principal positions will be posted immediately, and we will be working with our staff regarding the interview committee and process to hire new principals. Rest assured, we will have staff and parent representation on the interview committees.

We wish Ms. Rawlings and Ms. Garinger all the best in their new endeavors, and we thank them for their many years of service and contributions to our Lake Travis staff and families.

Sincerely,

Pam Sanchez
Acting Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent for Business Services
