Mrs. Chareese Hatfield named WCHE Assistant Principal

June 22, 2022

Dear West Cypress Hills Elementary School Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you and your family are staying cool during this brutal heatwave. I would like to share with you that Melanie Beninga has been selected to serve as Principal of Bee Cave Middle School, effective July 1. Ms. Beninga brings a wealth of experience and unique skill set to her new role, and we are excited about the great opportunities ahead for BCMS. The staff at WCHE were notified of the news earlier today.

I know you are concerned about the future of WCHE given the timing of Ms. Beninga’s departure. Rest assured, finding the next instructional leader for WCHE is a priority. We will begin the search for a new principal immediately, posting the position today and forming an interview committee which will include teachers and a parent. Will will update you accordingly as we conduct our process to fill this important role.

In the meantime, and in order to ensure that you have familiar leadership during the coming year, Chareese Hatfield will return to WCHE to serve as Assistant Principal. Ms. Hatfield has been in public education for 18 years. She served as an elementary teacher in the Coppell and Eanes school districts before joining LTISD in 2012. Most recently, Ms. Hatfield served as a special education teacher at WCHE. Although she was transitioning into a similar role at Rough Hollow Elementary School, Ms. Hatfield is delighted at the opportunity to return to WCHE and looks forward to supporting our Tiger family in her new leadership role.

I know that Ms. Beninga will be missed at WCHE, and I want to reassure you that the process for hiring her successor will receive our immediate attention and consideration.
