Superintendent highlights commitment of school board, encourages recognition

With the theme ‘Planting Seeds of Success,’ the Lake Travis Independent School District is joining other districts across the state to recognize and thank school trustees for their service throughout January 2019 as part of School Board Recognition Month.

“Our community benefits every day from the tireless work and countless hours contributed by the seven men and women who represent more than 10,600 students and their families,” said Dr. Brad Lancaster, LTISD Superintendent of Schools.  “These local volunteers are elected by their constituents and receive no compensation for their work as public servants.  In a climate of change and challenge, they develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues that affect our community.”

Serving on the LTISD school board are Kim Flasch, President; John Aoueille, Vice President; Bob Dorsett, Jr., Secretary; and trustees William Beard, Guy Clayton, Jessica Putonti, and Lauren White.

“Our school board members are a vital link between the LTISD community and the classroom,” continued Dr. Lancaster.  “They bear responsibility for an annual operating budget of approximately $135 million, a growing student enrollment, and a highly‐qualified workforce.  School board members are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our schoolchildren.  Even though we are making a special effort in January to show appreciation to our board members, we realize their contributions reflect a year-round commitment.  I ask the LTISD community to help us show appreciation to our board members for giving of themselves and caring so much about every child enrolled in our schools.”

LTISD trustees will be recognized at various campus events throughout January.  Additionally, the LTISD administration will officially celebrate School Board Recognition Month during the January 16, 2019 meeting of the Board of Trustees to be held at 6:00 p.m. in the LTISD Educational Development Center located at 607 RR 620 North.
