Twenty-two Lake Travis High School students will have 24 works of art juried at the state Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) to be held April 27 in San Marcos.

Approximately 1,445 pieces of art representing 33 area high schools from 18 districts were scored based on student interviews with a judge and quality of the artwork at the Region 13 North VASE competition held Feb. 16 at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock. LTHS had 125 pieces of art receive medals and a Superior rating at the regional level, of which 24 qualified for state VASE—more than any other district in the region.

VASE is a statewide curricular competition for high school art students that gives them the opportunity to develop creative works of art and to discuss and analyze their artwork with professionals. Teachers Amber Forgey, Mandy Gregory, Jennifer Nowzaradan, Caleigh Taylor, and Diane Wrinkle comprise the Lake Travis High School art department faculty.
