Superintendent announces retirement effective June 2020

December 19, 2019

Dear Lake Travis ISD Parents and Guardians,

During our regular school board meeting last night, I informed our trustees of my plans to retire this coming summer.  My last day in the office will take place around the end of June 2020.  I plan to be at work this spring helping the board, senior staff, and the Educational Leadership Team prepare for a transition to a new superintendent.  In the next few weeks, district staff will communicate details about the search timeline and process for a new district leader.

To say it has been an honor and a privilege to work in Lake Travis ISD would be an understatement.  When I retire this summer, I will have spent 37 years of my life in public education, with eight and a half years here in LTISD.  I have been fortunate to work in some amazing districts during my career and I consider Lake Travis ISD to be one of the best school districts in Texas.  I cannot think of a better place for me to conclude my career. The only plans my wife Karen and I have are to travel, sleep past 6:00 am, and spend more time with our parents, children—Will and Julia, and our extended family.  I am thankful for my career, am proud of the work and the friends I have made along the way, and retire with a full and grateful heart.

In the meantime, we have a busy spring ahead and I look forward to the successful conclusion of another outstanding school year for LTISD. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
