School Board Votes to Modify Face Covering Requirements

May 19, 2021

During its regular meeting tonight, the Lake Travis school board voted to make two modifications to our current masking requirements. The first change allows for the optional use of masks and other face coverings for staff, students, and visitors while outdoors on district property, effective immediately. The second modification allows for the optional use of masks and other face coverings for staff, students, and visitors while indoors on district property, effective at 12:01 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2021. No other modifications were made to the District’s current protocols for COVID.

The board’s decision to modify our face covering requirements was not an easy one to make. The continued decline of local COVID transmission rates, the availability of vaccines for staff and students, and the recent order issued by Governor Greg Abbott were each thoughtfully and carefully considered.

Please know, in our continued efforts to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and students, we will follow all other protocols currently in place through the remainder of the current school year. We appreciate your patience, understanding and support.
