District Releases Update to COVID-19 Protocols and Dashboard for 2022-2023 School Year

August 4, 2022

To help support your planning and your child’s return to school, we have posted our updated COVID-19 protocols titled, “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Instruction Plan” on our website. Following the latest guidance from state health authorities, there are several updates in this document regarding our COVID-19 positive case re-entry criteria. Specifically, any individual who is experiencing symptoms and suspected of having COVID-19 may not return to a campus, other district facility, or a school-related event until the following criteria have been met:

  • At least five (5) calendar days have passed since symptom onset;
  • 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication; and
  • Improved symptoms

Upon re-entry, individuals are highly encouraged to follow CDC guidance on ending isolation for days 6-10 following a symptomatic case of COVID-19. Once again, we are required to report cases to local and state health authorities, so we will utilize the online reporting form.

In the interest of transparency and in an effort to provide our community with a current snapshot of COVID-19 positive cases on our campuses and district facilities, we will once again maintain a public dashboard on our website during the coming school year. In lieu of sending notification of individual cases, the District will solely maintain a dashboard this year. The dashboard will have a different look and indicate the last date the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 was on campus. We will report cases that have been onsite in a district facility within two days of symptom onset or have tested positive for COVID-19. The dashboard is currently posted on our Response to COVID-19 webpage and will be updated as needed.

On behalf of our school board and administration, we look forward to welcoming you and your family to a safe and successful school year. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work together to keep our community safe and healthy. We will provide updates as conditions warrant.

Sincerely,

Paul Norton
Superintendent of Schools
