Highland Lakes High School Project Advances with Board Approval of Construction Pricing
At its June 17, 2026 meeting, the Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $299,537,086 for the construction of Highland Lakes High School and authorized the Superintendent to negotiate and execute the related agreement amendment with American Constructors.
Lake Travis ISD voters approved funding for the district's second comprehensive high school in the November 2022 bond election. Funding for the campus's athletic facilities was approved in the November 2023 bond election. The Board selected American Constructors as the Construction Manager at Risk in January 2024 and approved construction agreements in March 2025. In September 2025, trustees approved GMP Phase 1, which included site preparation and utility infrastructure work.
Since then, district staff, the design team, and American Constructors have continued to refine project plans and costs, resulting in the final GMP approved by the Board. The total project cost includes all previously authorized Phase 1 work. A detailed listing of the GMP Pricing Summary is available for review.
Construction remains on schedule, with Highland Lakes High School expected to open for students in August 2029
